Joel Hagyard is a partner in our Langley office. Joel's areas of practice includes real estate and banking law, corporate/commercial law, and wills and estates.
Joel has extensive experience with real estate and secured lending transactions. His real estate and secured lending practice includes representing buyers and sellers of commercial and residential real estate; advising real estate developers with respect to condominium developments and subdivisions; acting for landlords and tenants with respect to commercial tenancies; and acting for institutional and private lenders and for corporate borrowers in connection with commercial lending transactions.
Joel's corporate and commercial practice focuses on the needs of small to mid-sized private companies. He assists these clients with general corporate and commercial issues such as those relating to establishing business structures, corporate governance and corporate acquisitions.
Joel also practices extensively in the areas of wills and estate planning, trusts, estate administration, and dependent adult matters. He assists individuals with succession planning for personal and business assets, and incapacity planning. Joel also advises executors and administrators of their legal obligations and duties and assists them with respect to the administration of estates.
Joel has been a frequent presenter to the public, private institutions, and the charitable sector on topics pertaining to estate planning, real estate transactions and commercial transactions.
Joel was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and has lived throughout Western Canada prior moving to the Lower Mainland in 1982.
