Vanessa Gauthier joined the firm in January 2010 and is an associate practicing in Lindsay Kenney’s Vancouver office.
Vanessa was born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from St Francis Xavier University in 1991 and her Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 1994. Upon completion of her law degree, she articled and practiced with a mid-sized firm in St John’s and provided representation to clients in the areas of personal injury, wills and estate, family law and other areas of civil litigation. From 2003 to 2005, Vanessa was Legal Counsel for the Workplace Health, Safety & Compensation Commission of Newfoundland and Labrador. Vanessa practised law in Australia from 2005 to 2009, with a large national firm where she specialised in insurance litigation, including general liability, occupier’s liability, professional indemnity, product liability and dust diseases. She also represented employers in the defence of workplace accidents and the management of workers’ compensation claims, particularly in the mining, transportation, manufacturing and retail sectors.
Vanessa has regularly appeared before Courts and administrative tribunals.
Her main area of practice is insurance litigation, with an emphasis on motor vehicle accidents, personal injury and occupier’s liability.
