In October 2014 the inaugural Read for the Cure event in Vancouver raised $25,000. Read for the Cure is a volunteer organization that dedicates 100% of ticket sales from their Canadian events to fund cancer research in Canada.

Background
The first Vancouver Read for the Cure evening follows successful events held annually in Toronto, Ottawa and Calgary since 2007. Bestselling authors from Penguin Random House share an evening of entertainment at what can best be described as a large scale book club gathering.
Read for the Cure supports the Cancer Research Society, which has funded cancer research across Canada since 1945, and the BC Cancer Foundation. Funds raised for these worthy organizations support research into environmental links to cancer such as lifestyle and our working, leisure and living environments.
