Perminder S. Tung is a Partner at Lindsay Kenney LLP. His legal practice focuses on three areas of the law:
Estate Litigation & Wills Variation Claims
Perminder is co-leader of the estate planning & litigation practice group at LK Law.
Perminder assists beneficiaries or potential beneficiaries, who have been disinherited or unfairly treated in relation to distribution of an estate. He can analyse the will and estate and advise whether it can be successfully challenged. These claims are emotional and difficult as they often involve a beneficiary feeling that they have not been treated fairly or the executor/administrator of the estate is not fulfilling their duties.
These are delicate issues for families to deal with, and Perminder’s goal is to help while avoiding costly court conflicts that may take a long time and result in irreparable harm to the family. If the case must go to court to be resolved, Perminder and the team at LK Law are willing to advance the rights in court.
Mediation & Dispute Resolution
Perminder is a Chartered Mediator (C. Med.) designated through the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada (ADRIC). He is retained by litigating parties that wish to have a facilitated conversation about their dispute and want to consider an alternative outcome to trial and the courts. He has successfully mediated hundreds of legal matters and is available to assist conflicting parties in various areas of the law, including: personal injury and disability insurance litigation, ICBC injury claims, estate litigation and wills variation claims, business, commercial, and construction disputes, shareholder disputes, wrongful dismissal and workplace claims, and general civil litigation.
Perminder is also a member of the ADRBC Mediation Roster Program, where he is part of an exclusive list of mediators that have been vetted for relevant skill, experience, and training. ADRBC appoints qualified mediators, in partnership with the Ministry of the Attorney General, under British Columbia’s Notice to Mediate Regulations.
Perminder is a member of the Civil Roster of MediateBC, a not-for-profit governmental body that provides the public with a dedicated roster of highly trained and experienced mediators.
In 2020, Perminder was appointed by ADRIC to serve on the Board of Directors of ADRBC, where he hopes to contribute to the growth and promotion of the mediation profession.
ICBC Auto Injury Claims
In this area, he is passionate about serving auto injury victims and assisting them on their path to recovery and settlement. He has extensive court experience and a strong background in negotiation and dispute resolution to assist victims that wish to avoid the stress and delay of court proceedings. He is also a skilled litigator and has represented parties successfully in court through the trial process.
Perminder feels that the public should be better informed about their rights and in dealing with ICBC. In recent times in British Columbia, motor vehicle injury law has been under constant change and government intervention (minor injury caps and no-fault). Perminder is there to help victims navigate the complicated and ever changing legislative schemes.
Background
Perminder was born and raised in the Fraser Valley and is passionate about his roots in Surrey, BC. He completed his undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University in 2004. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Windsor (2008) and Juris Doctor, cum laude from the University of Detroit (2008).
Ever an active member of the community, Perminder cares deeply about helping at-risk youth and accelerating opportunities for gifted and disadvantaged youth. He frequently speaks at community events and high schools to encourage young people to reach for the stars.
Recreationally, he can be found playing basketball and ball-hockey. He volunteers as a coach on his daughter’s soccer team and son’s ball-hockey team. If he is not on a court or soccer field, he can be found hiking with his wife and their Hungarian Vizsla.
