What you can expect:
We currently have an opening in our Langley office for a Corporate Legal Administrative Assistant. This role requires an individual who is organized, effective at multi-tasking and detail oriented, with strong communication and people skills. Depending on experience and knowledge, the core responsibilities of the role will be, but not limited to:
- Performing conflict searches, opening files, completing client identification/verification and preparing retainer letters;
- Tasks related to commercial transactions, including but not limited to:
- due diligence searches;
- interim and final due diligence reporting;
- reviewing and formatting Co-ownership Agreements, Leases, Shareholders Agreements, Share Purchase Agreements and Asset Purchase Agreements;
- drafting closing documents;
- coordinating electronic signatures
- attending to closings and payouts;
- Preparing trust deposits, trust cheque requests, trust transfers, investment deposits and redemptions, billing and generating monthly WIP and AR Reports;
- Calendar organization for lawyers including scheduling telephone, video conference and in-person client meetings, booking boardrooms and setting up virtual meetings using Zoom and Teams; and
- Other administrative duties as required.
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 3 years’ of experience as an LAA in a busy corporate practice
- A Legal Administrative Assistant certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work in independently and in a team environment
